B&G Furniture Co. Roll Top Secretary Desk c. 1900: Offered in this lot we have a B&G Furniture Co. roll top secretary desk originating from the early 20th century. The desk is manufactured of exceptional Quarter Sawn Oak wood and has a fantastic "Tiger Oak" lively wood grain. The piece was manufactured by B. & G. Furniture Co. The desk is set on tow raised panel pedestals showing three and four drawers respectively, as well as pull out writing spaces. The roll top desk shows 16 small cubbies with 7 pull out drawers, a letter organizer, two larger drawers, spaces to hold paper and writing utensils, and a pencil sharpener. It shows a pull out drawer between the pedestals that has a brass plaque reading "B. & G. Furniture Co. Pat. Apr. 26 - 98". The desk shows good solid construction out of oak paneling. The roll top is in good condition overall with some scuffs and wear due to age and use. The desk measures 54" wide by 49" tall and 29 1/2" deep. Eastlake Walnut Burl Cylinder Roll Top Desk 19th C: This is an excellent Eastlake style walnut burl cylinder roll top desk dating to the 19th Century. The 1800’s roll top desk shows a fantastic cylinder design and high craftsmanship with excellent walnut hardwood and walnut burl veneer. The desk shows eight drawers along the side towers of the desk and adorned with beautiful floral leaf hand carved handles that accent the drawers marvelously. Inside the roll up compartment there are four pull out drawers with a button accented handle for each with eight cubbies above with a compartment centered between the cubbies. The roll top desk shows an incredible secretary desk attachment which is both used practically for writing and locking the drawers along the tower-like legs of the desk shut when fastened in place. underneath is a larger compartment for storage with two doors which swing outwards. The fronts of each drawer, the cylinder roll top and the side raised panels each have an excellent walnut burl veneer, a truly artistic addition in very good condition. The Eastlake movement was an American 19th Century architectural and furniture design style started by Charles Eastlake and is considered to be part of the late Victorian era. Antique c.1900 Angus English Oak Roll Top DeskFrom an estate is an antique c.1900'sEnglish oak roll top desk produced by William Angus and Company of London and also Menstrie Scotland marked on the lock "Angus Menstrie" likely meaning it was from the Scotland Company. Made of solid oak the desk is of English design being slightly smaller than American designs, has the low rising roll top cover with organizers and storage bins, original lock and key and sits on 8 round feet. Includes 8 drawers (1 center, 4 left side and 3 right side) with machined dovetail joints and all original hardware. Angus produced fine furniture for home and office from the late 19th Century to the early 1900's or about 1875 - 1925. The desk appears to be in near original condition with original finish with a couple trim molding pieces missing. Measures 39" tall x 44 3/4" wide x 26 1/2" deep.

The desk was manufactured during the late 19th or early 20th century from solid oak fronts and secondary woods. The roll top slides on an incurving track, which may appear to you as buckled down.
As for condition of the upper section, the tambour door fabric shows signs of wear. The writing surface has generalized wear and a circular stain. One drawer is missing from the compartment.
Condition of the lower section is as follows: the vertical partitions of the drawers are missing. Water stains appear on the front of several drawers, which will require some restoration. The long drawer is fitted with new runners. One handle is partially missing.

RARE CAMPHOR TAMBOUR CAMPAIGN WRITING DESK. First quarter, 19th century, probably England. This brass-bound example with sloping hinged lid above a long drawer. The top fitted with a tambour roll. The desk fitted with a telescoping mechanism, whereby the drawers open, releasing the tambour roll into the desk, revealing a tray for stationary and inkwells. The tray telescopes upward, revealing additional tambour slides behind which is fitted with an arrangement of pigeon holes and small drawers. The hinged writing slope opens to a baize-lined surface, within which is a well. Additionally fitted with open compartments, ink well, and pen tray. The case sides fitted with brass carrying handles.
