Note: The sitter here is Eudocia Hill Foote, the wife of Connecticut Senator and the state's 28th Governor, Samuel Augustus Foote (1780-1846). The couple married in 1803. Their son, Andrew Hull Foote (1806-1863), was a rear-admiral and naval officer known for his service during the Civil War when he was appointed commander of the Western Gunboat Flotilla.

Note: Augustus Russell Street (1792-1866) was a philanthropist and strong supporter of Yale University where he studied law, graduating in 1812. He practiced for only a short period of time before devoting himself full-time to philanthropy and the dissemination of his family's fortune. Street married Caroline Mary Leffingwell in 1815. Their first daughter, Caroline Augusta Street (1816-1863) was born a year after their marriage, followed by eight other daughters, all of whom predeceased their parents and elder sister. Caroline Augusta married Andrew Hull Foote (1806-1863), also a native of New Haven and a respected rear-admiral and naval officer.
