Cased Colt Model 1849 Pocket Model Revolver.
Serial # 85155 This revolver was manufactured in 1854. Standard features on this model include 6" octagon barrel, five shot, single action, .31 percussion caliber. This is an early first type manufactured with the small trigger guard. The stagecoach cylinder scene is excellent and near fully visible. Every number on this revolver matches including the wedge, loading lever and cylinder. The rotation and lockup is perfect. Very good bore. Extremely strong two-line New York City barrel address. The metal surfaces are basically a smooth gun metal patina with no pitting. The backstrap and trigger guard retain ample amounts of nickel finish, albeit appear to have been refinished. The one piece walnut stocks are very good, albeit they have a small chip at left front toe and are a bit shy to metal, having been redone at one time. This revolver is cased in a vintage wooden display box with an instruction sheet that has been adhered to the inside cover and was apparently cut out and reapplied (not factory). While the case appears to be contemporary to the revolver, it is not a Colt case. It is accompanied by an original unmarked powder flask, original Colt stamped two cavity bullet mold (one conical, one round), an original Eley cap tin with caps and 14 vintage round lead balls. Extremely handsome, very early Colt Model 1849.
